The Chief of Air Staff today delivered a landmark address to the newly commissioned officers of the Bangladesh Air Force Academy, outlining an ambitious and transformative vision for the service as it accelerates towards the objectives of Forces Goal 2030 and beyond. His speech, delivered at the passing-out parade, reaffirmed an unwavering commitment to massively expand and modernise the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) into a technologically superior, self-reliant, and future-ready force.

The Air Chief emphasised that the next era of warfare will be defined by artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, multidimensional operations, and the integration of space-based technologies. To remain competitive and guarantee national security in an increasingly complex environment, the BAF must evolve from a traditional air arm into a fully fledged air and space force. He stated that this transformation is no longer aspirational but an essential strategic necessity.

In his address, he reiterated that the foundation of this transformation will be indigenous brainpower. Bangladesh, he said, possesses the intellectual capacity and technical talent required to establish its own defence industrial ecosystem centred around the Air Force. By enhancing domestic research, engineering, avionics, and advanced manufacturing capabilities, the BAF aims to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and gradually develop airpower-related defence industries within the country. This includes fostering closer collaboration between the armed forces, universities, research institutes, and emerging aerospace enterprises.

The Air Chief highlighted several key pillars underpinning the BAF’s long-term development. New airbases are already in various stages of planning and development to ensure nationwide coverage, strategic dispersal, and the capacity to operate advanced platforms. The establishment of international-standard training facilities—equipped with modern simulators, synthetic training environments, and state-of-the-art instructional technologies—will ensure that officers and airmen are trained to global benchmarks from the outset of their careers.

Capital acquisitions under Forces Goal 2030 are also progressing steadily. The Air Chief confirmed that the BAF is moving ahead with procurement programmes for Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MRCA), dedicated attack helicopters, modern transport aircraft, next-generation air defence missile systems, and long-range air surveillance radars. These capabilities will be integrated under a robust network-centric warfare architecture, enabling real-time data fusion, seamless joint operations, and enhanced situational awareness. He further noted that space research initiatives, already in motion, will support the future transition towards space-enabled operations.

Reflecting on these immense changes, the Air Chief reminded the graduating officers that they are entering service at a pivotal moment. The responsibility for shaping the future Bangladesh Air and Space Force will fall upon their shoulders. He urged them to embrace innovation, cultivate strategic thinking, uphold uncompromising professionalism, and dedicate themselves to mastering the technologies that will define tomorrow’s battlefield.

Concluding his address, the Air Chief expressed full confidence that with the dedication of its personnel, the strength of its national institutions, and the growing capabilities of its defence industry, Bangladesh will build an air and space force worthy of a modern, self-reliant nation—capable of securing its skies, contributing to regional stability, and meeting the demands of the future with courage and competence.
