Airbus Revises Biman Campaign with A350-900 and A321neo Offer
Reading Time: 2 minutes European airframer Airbus has revised its fleet campaign for Biman Bangladesh Airlines, reducing an earlier 14-aircraft proposal to a package of 10 aircraft following the carrier’s recent order with rival manufacturer Boeing. Industry and airline sources said Airbus recently submitted an updated proposal to Biman’s techno-finance committee covering four A350-900S widebody aircraft and six A321neo narrowbody jets. The move follows Biman’s $3.7 billion agreement signed on 30 April for 14 Boeing aircraft, including eight 787-10 Dreamliners, two 787-9 Dreamliners and four 737 MAX aircraft. The European manufacturer had previously campaigned with a broader package reportedly centred on 10 A350-family aircraft alongside four A320neo narrowbodies. The revised offer is viewed as an effort to retain a role in Bangladesh’s long-term fleet modernisation strategy while adapting to Biman’s evolving acquisition requirements. For Biman, the A350-900S would add long-range widebody capacity with lower fuel burn and improved operating economics
