Army Chief Inaugurates Army Hill and Jungle Warfare School at Alikadam

Reading Time: 3 minutes Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC, visited Alikadam Cantonment under Bandarban Region on 18 April 2026 and formally inaugurated the newly established Army Hill and Jungle Warfare School (AHJWS). The visit formed part of the Army Chief’s ongoing efforts to review operational preparedness and training standards across formations, particularly in strategically sensitive and geographically challenging areas. Upon arrival, he was received by senior formation commanders and was briefed on the overall training plan, infrastructure development, and future expansion prospects of the institution. Strategic Rationale The establishment of the Army Hill and Jungle Warfare School represents a forward-looking initiative aimed at enhancing the Bangladesh Army’s operational adaptability in complex terrain.
