UN Clarifies Non-Involvement in Rakhine Corridor Proposal

Reading Time: 2 minutes The United Nations has recently put to bed rumours of its involvement in any so-called “humanitarian corridor” running from Bangladesh into Myanmar’s war-torn Rakhine State. Speaking candidly at a DCAB Talk in Dhaka, Gwyn Lewis, the UN’s top representative in Bangladesh, made it crystal clear that the UN isn’t part of any discussions or backroom dealings about such a corridor. In fact, she laid it out plain and simple: unless the governments of Bangladesh and Myanmar strike an official agreement, the UN won’t be lifting a finger in that direction.
