Bangladesh Security Forces Induct Turkish Shotguns

Reading Time: 3 minutes Bangladesh has taken a decisive step towards strengthening its internal security and border-management capabilities with the large-scale procurement of Turkish-made tactical shotguns from Hatsan, with a major portion of the shipment already delivered and fielded by operational units. The acquisition spans the Bangladesh Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Bangladesh Ansar & Village Defence Party (VDP), with different services inducting distinct variants of Hatsan’s Escort family to suit their operational roles. Procurement records indicate the shotguns were purchased at a unit price of USD 146, underlining a highly cost-effective modernisation effort. Confirmed Quantities and Variants: Ansar-VDP at Scale Where official data is available, the scope of the programme is substantial. The Bangladesh Ansar & VDP has confirmed the procurement of 17,050 Hatsan Escort and Defender series shotguns, marking one of the largest single shotgun acquisitions by a Bangladeshi security organisation in recent years.
