BGB inaugurates third floating BOP in Sundarbans

Reading Time: 2 minutes The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has officially inaugurated its third floating Border Outpost (BOP), named the Boising Floating BOP, strategically positioned at the confluence of the Raymangal River and Boising Channel, adjacent to the Sundarbans. The inauguration ceremony was officiated by the Honourable Home Advisor, Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, who attended as the chief guest on 17 May 2025. Also present were BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, senior officers, and representatives from both print and electronic media. The Honourable Home Advisor highlighted the significance of this new installation in bolstering border security in challenging riverine terrain. “This floating BOP will provide a full-fledged operational platform for surveillance and patrol in areas surrounded by rivers and swamps, where routine patrols are often hindered. It will enable swift intervention against border crimes, smuggling, human trafficking, and the looting of forest resources,” he
