Bangladesh Army to Extend Service Life of Metis-M1 Anti-Tank Guided Missiles
Reading Time: 2 minutes The Bangladesh Army has begun a programme to extend the operational life of its Metis-M1 anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) inventory, aiming to maintain the effectiveness of a key infantry anti-armour capability while ensuring the continued safety and reliability of existing munitions stocks. The Metis-M1, officially designated as the 9K115-2 Metis-M1, is a Russian-designed portable anti-tank missile system developed by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau. Widely employed by infantry units, the system is designed to engage armoured vehicles, fortified positions and other battlefield targets at ranges of up to approximately two kilometres. It utilises a wire-guided missile fitted with a tandem high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead capable of defeating modern armour equipped with explosive reactive armour.
