The increasing complexities of modern warfare, reliance on advanced aerial platforms, and the strategic vulnerability stemming from dependence on foreign suppliers have underscored the urgent need for a sovereign defence industrial base. To maintain operational readiness, deter external threats, and ensure supply chain continuity during periods of geopolitical instability, it is imperative that Bangladesh develops a robust and integrated aerospace and munitions industry. Currently, the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) has made commendable progress in performing full Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of F-7 series fighters and Mi-171 helicopters. The BAF has also demonstrated technological ingenuity by modifying the F-7BG to launch precision-guided munitions (PGMs) such as the TEBER kit and integrating the Falco UAV with laser-guided munitions like the Turkish Cirit.
