Bangladesh Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon Procurement Gathers Momentum

Reading Time: 3 minutes The Bangladesh Air Force’s long-anticipated multi-role combat aircraft (MRCA) procurement programme appears to be entering its decisive phase, with significant developments indicating that the Eurofighter Typhoon is now the frontrunner for selection. The seeds of this procurement were first sown nearly a decade ago. During the 2016 Farnborough Airshow, the then 14th Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Abu Esrar, confirmed that the Eurofighter Typhoon was among the aircraft being considered under Bangladesh’s MRCA programme. Since then, the Air Force has undertaken extensive evaluations to identify a modern and capable platform capable of providing both deterrence and air superiority in the increasingly complex regional security environment.
