The visit of Chief of Naval Staff, Pakistan Navy, Admiral Naveed Ashraf to Bangladesh underscores the growing spirit of cooperation and mutual trust between the armed forces of the two nations. During his official visit, Admiral Ashraf held separate courtesy calls with Chief of Army Staff, Bangladesh Army, General Waker-uz-Zaman, SBP (BAR), afwc, psc, and Chief of Naval Staff, Bangladesh Navy, Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, OSP, NPP, ndc, afwc, psc.
Courtesy Call on the Chief of Army Staff
Admiral Naveed Ashraf, accompanied by a delegation of senior Pakistan Navy officials, paid a courtesy call on General Waker-uz-Zaman at the Army Headquarters, Dhaka.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged warm greetings and discussed areas of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on strengthening defence cooperation and enhancing interoperability between the armed forces of Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The Chiefs highlighted the significance of bilateral collaboration through joint training exercises, seminars, and professional exchanges to promote regional stability and operational excellence. Admiral Ashraf also praised the Bangladesh Navy’s professionalism and discipline, particularly for their participation in the Multinational Exercise AMAN 2025, hosted by the Pakistan Navy in Karachi and the North Arabian Sea earlier this year.
Meeting with the Chief of Naval Staff
Later, Admiral Naveed Ashraf called on Admiral M Nazmul Hassan at the Naval Headquarters, Dhaka.
The discussions focused on professional cooperation, naval training programmes, and maritime security collaboration. Both Chiefs explored potential areas for expanding bilateral naval engagements, including joint exercises, personnel exchanges, and academic cooperation between naval institutions.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the existing cordial relations between the two navies and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening maritime cooperation in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both navies, including the Pakistan Navy delegation, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh, the Defence Attaché, Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) of Bangladesh Navy Headquarters, and other senior military officers.
