Bangladesh, Malaysia Sign Landmark Defence Cooperation MoU, Boosting Strategic Partnership

Reading Time: 2 minutes Malaysia and Bangladesh have taken a major step in strengthening their bilateral relations with the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation, underscoring a growing strategic partnership between the two South and Southeast Asian nations. The MoU signed on 12 August 2025 among eight agreements signed during the visit of Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus was inked by Malaysia’s Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Bangladesh Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain. It paves the way for closer collaboration in military training, defence preparedness, defence-industry partnerships, and joint security coordination.
