Bangladesh to Produce Anti-Tank Weapons

Reading Time: 5 minutes Bangladesh is poised to take a decisive step towards defence-industrial self-sufficiency with a dedicated factory in Chattogram to produce a crew-served heavy rocket system issued at company and battalion level. The plant is scheduled for completion by 2026 and production is expected to commence shortly afterwards. The project combines a package of technology transfer, supply of specialised raw materials and an extensive training programme carried out with a partner nation, enabling the Bangladesh Ordnance Factories (BOF) to establish an end-to-end production line for this class of infantry support weapon for the first time on home soil. The programme places strong emphasis on workforce development and manufacturing discipline. Over 200 BOF personnel have taken part in classroom and shop-floor instruction overseas, gaining hands-on experience in fabrication, non-destructive testing, proof-firing and routine maintenance. Precision machining tools, jigs and fixtures for tube manufacture, and test rigs for acceptance trials
