UPDF Leader Michael Chakma Sentenced to Eight Years’ Rigorous Imprisonment in Extortion Case

The verdict was delivered by Judge Tawhidur Haque of Rangamati Special Judge Court-2 and Additional District Judge, confirmed by court bench assistant Prosadeb Chakma. Two others were handed the same sentence following the conclusion of the long-running case. Case Background According to court sources, the case was originally filed by Longadu Police Station on 30 October 2007, naming three accused for their involvement in an extortion incident targeting local traders and transport operators.
