Bangladesh Navy to Build Modern Ship Docking and Repair Facility at Mongla

Reading Time: 3 minutes Dockyard & Engineering Works Ltd (DEW), operated by the Bangladesh Navy, has invited expressions of interest (EOI) from reputed international shipbuilders and tenderers for a joint venture (JV) to construct a complete ship docking and repair facility at Mongla, Bagerhat. According to the EOI, the project will be undertaken under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, covering construction, installation, commissioning, and delivery of the entire facility. The proposed complex will be located on the east bank of the Pasur River at Mongla, Digrag, and will support docking, undocking, repair, and maintenance of Bangladesh Navy ships and auxiliary vessels. The new ship docking and repair yard will be capable of handling at least two naval ships simultaneously, each measuring up to 120 metres in length with a 2,500-tonne light displacement. It will also have provision for docking and undocking another vessel of similar size for emergency
