Reading Time: 2 minutes The Centre for Naval Research & Development (CNRD) is a pivotal institution within the Bangladesh Navy, dedicated to advancing indigenous technological capabilities and supporting the operational readiness of the fleet. Established on 18 January 2013, CNRD operates under the Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (CSD) in Chattogram, Bangladesh’s principal naval base. Mission and Objectives CNRD’s core mission is to undertake research, modification, and development activities related to technical and technological aspects of naval operations. This encompasses both onboard systems and shore-based establishments, ensuring that the Bangladesh Navy remains at the forefront of maritime defence innovation. Key Functions Research and Development: CNRD is instrumental in developing indigenous technologies, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for surveillance and targeting. These innovations enhance the Navy’s capabilities in monitoring coastal and offshore activities. Collaboration with Academic Institutions: CNRD has established partnerships with academic institutions such as Chattogram University of Engineering & Technology (CUET)
