Türkiye, Bangladesh to Forge New Era of Joint Defence Industry Cooperation

Reading Time: 2 minutes In a landmark step toward strengthening bilateral defence ties, Türkiye’s Defence Industry Secretary, Professor Haluk Görgün, will arrive in Dhaka on 8 July for a high-level two-day visit aimed at deepening strategic industrial collaboration. His visit follows a successful five-day trip by Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), to Türkiye in May. Harun’s engagements included rare access to the facilities of Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE) in Kırıkkale, where classified briefings on artillery systems, energetics, and small arms were held. Görgün’s trip is being coordinated by the Armed Forces Division (AFD) of the Bangladesh Army and is expected to culminate in significant weapons procurement decisions and long-term industrial agreements.
