KX2 Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

Reading Time: 2 minutes The KX2 UAV is a fully indigenous tactical unmanned aerial system developed by the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) as part of a long-term effort to enhance national unmanned systems capability through domestic innovation. Designed, engineered, and test-flown entirely within Bangladesh, the KX2 reflects the country’s growing competence in autonomous defence technologies and signals a strategic shift toward sovereign aerial ISR solutions. Initiated in January 2024, the KX2 programme reached a key milestone with its maiden flight on 20 February 2025. The UAV was conceptualised to fill critical ISR gaps in tactical surveillance, border security, and coastal monitoring without dependency on foreign platforms. The system features a lightweight composite airframe optimised for low-altitude surveillance operations in tropical and littoral environments. With a maximum take-off weight of 125 kg, the platform cruises at 120 knots and can remain airborne for up to 4 hours. Operating at a ceiling
