Türkiye Steps Up as Key Partner in Bangladesh’s Defence Industry Expansion

Reading Time: 4 minutes Dhaka seeks Ankara’s support to modernise Bangladesh Ordnance Factories and expand indigenous production capacity. In a decisive move to bolster its self-reliance in defence manufacturing, Bangladesh has sought strategic and technical assistance from Türkiye — a NATO member and one of the world’s fastest-growing defence producers — to enhance the capacity of the Bangladesh Ordnance Factories (BOF). The initiative follows the July 2025 visit of Professor Haluk Görgün, President of Türkiye’s Defence Industry Agency (SSB), to Dhaka. During the visit, both sides discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation through technology transfer, production modernisation, and training programmes for Bangladeshi engineers and military personnel.
