Bangladesh Police to Field 40,000 Bodycams in Historic Election Security Push

Reading Time: 2 minutes The Bangladesh interim government is moving to procure at least 40,000 body-worn cameras for use by police officers during the forthcoming general election in February 2026, in an effort to ensure what officials describe as “foolproof” security at all levels of the polling process. The plan, currently in the final stage of procurement, is being overseen by Faiz Tayeb Ahmed, the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on Telecommunications and ICT Affairs. Delivery is expected by October 2025 to allow sufficient time for officer training.
