Bangladesh Police Launches Large-Scale Procurement Ahead of National Polls

Reading Time: < 1 minute The Bangladesh Police have begun extensive procurement of equipment ahead of the upcoming national elections. Orders cover digital monitoring systems, protective gear, vehicles and less-lethal munitions, with deliveries scheduled before polling begins. The force is acquiring 40,000 body-worn cameras through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The cameras will be deployed during election duties, particularly in and around polling stations. The project includes supporting infrastructure such as data storage systems and software for managing the large volume of recorded footage. Protective equipment procurement has been formalised through tender notices for 20,000 Level IIIA bullet-proof jackets and 20,000 anti-riot helmets. These will be distributed across police units tasked with election security operations. The Bangladesh Police are also procuring significant quantities of less-lethal munitions.
