Bangladesh Police Bolster Mobility with 418 New Vehicles to Enhance Public Service Delivery

Reading Time: 2 minutes The interim government has handed over a fresh batch of vehicles to the Bangladesh Police in an effort to restore operational capacity and improve response times following the devastating losses sustained during the July 2024 mass uprising. Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today announced that the government had procured a total of 418 new vehicles for the police to deliver what he described as “the fastest services to the people’s doorsteps.” The newly inducted fleet comprises 200 double-cabin pickups, 152 motorcycles, and 66 other types of vehicles, aimed at alleviating long-standing transport shortages across police units nationwide. Speaking at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Headquarters, where he formally handed over 20 of the new pickups to DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, the Home Adviser noted that the force’s vehicular strength had been severely depleted in the wake of the violent July–August 2024
