Bangladesh Navy Procures Naval Guns from Türkiye

Reading Time: 2 minutes The Bangladesh Navy has formally signed a procurement agreement with Turkish defence manufacturer Canik (SYS Group) for the acquisition of Venom LR 30mm remote-controlled weapon systems and M2 QCB 12.7mm heavy machine guns, further cementing growing defence ties between Dhaka and Ankara. The deal was publicly unveiled on 24 July 2025 at the IDEF 2025 International Defence Industry Fair in Istanbul, where Canik announced the signing of multiple contracts with partner nations, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan. Bolstering Naval Firepower Under the agreement, the Bangladesh Navy will receive an undisclosed number of Venom LR 30mm low-recoil autocannons, a lightweight, stabilised system designed for counter-drone warfare and naval protection roles. The system, developed by Unirobotics and integrated into Canik’s export portfolio, is optimised for use on small naval platforms, patrol vessels, and unmanned systems.
