Bangladesh Air Force Standardises Glock Semi-Automatic 9 mm Pistols

Reading Time: 2 minutes The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) has moved to standardise its service-pistol inventory with the adoption of Glock 9×19 mm semi-automatic pistols. A Directorate General of Defence Purchase (DGDP) tender issued in October 2025 confirmed the procurement of Glock 19 pistols, alongside Glock 17 pistols ordered in the same acquisition cycle. Modernisation and Standardisation The acquisition forms part of a measured modernisation of the Air Force’s personal-weapons inventory. The Glock 19 — a compact 9 mm pistol — will be paired with the full-size Glock 17 to provide both concealability and service-pistol performance within a common weapons family. Using two closely related models reduces logistical complexity through shared magazines, spare parts and training doctrine. Why Glock?
