Chinese company builds 170 km strategic rail link in Bangladesh

Reading Time: < 1 minute The China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) has constructed a 169.8 km railway network in Bangladesh, which will link the East and West part of Bangladesh over the newly built Padma Multipurpose Bridge. The expansive rail network encompasses 20 new stations spanning between Dhaka and Jashore shortening the distance to only 2 hours travel time compared to the 11 hours needed previously. It will allow for major troop movement to occur over the rail network ensuring land forces receive critical reinforcements and logistical supplies during emergencies. Up to 80 million people in Bangladesh will benefit from this project. It is regarded as the largest infrastructure project of its kind in the country till date. BDMilitary Staff Correspondent
