Bangladesh Armed Forces Set to Benefit from Enhanced US Military Support and Framework Accords

This evolution is part of a broader U.S. policy in the Indo-Pacific aimed at strengthening regional security partnerships, while also aligning with Bangladesh’s own strategic objective of modernising its armed forces under Forces Goal 2030. The developments include deliveries of military hardware, transfer of surveillance and patrol assets, introduction of new unmanned aerial capabilities, and advanced training initiatives. They also include discussions surrounding foundational agreements such as the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA) and the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA), which, once concluded, could enable Bangladesh to access higher-end U.S. defence technologies that are currently restricted.
