The Bangladesh Navy successfully concluded its Annual Naval Exercise – 2025 in the Bay of Bengal today, culminating in live-fire missile operations and comprehensive combat drills. The five-day exercise tested the Navy’s full spectrum of operational capabilities, enhancing preparedness for maritime security and national defence.
The closing phase of the exercise was overseen by Admiral M Nazmul Hasan, Chief of Naval Staff, and attended by senior advisors of the Bangladesh Interim Government representing the Ministries of Home Affairs; Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Forests and Climate Change; Water Resources; and Housing and Public Works, along with high-ranking military and civilian officials from maritime agencies.
The exercise involved a significant deployment of naval assets, including frigates, corvettes, offshore patrol vessels, mine sweepers, patrol craft, and missile boats, supported by maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters, and specialised forces squads. The participation of the Bangladesh Air Force and Coast Guard reinforced joint operational integration and interoperability among Bangladesh’s armed services.
Over the course of the exercise, the Navy conducted complex fleet manoeuvres, maritime surveillance, logistics operations, and coastal defence drills, simulating high-intensity operational scenarios. The final day featured live missile launches from naval vessels, shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile firing, anti-air rapid open firing drills, rocket depth charge operations, UAV missions, and helicopter-based Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (HVBSS) operations, demonstrating proficiency in modern naval warfare tactics.
The exercise reaffirmed the Navy’s ability to protect national sovereignty, secure sea lines of communication, counter smuggling and piracy, preserve coastal biodiversity, and maintain maritime situational awareness. By integrating surface, air, and special forces assets, the exercise strengthened readiness for multi-domain maritime operations.
Visiting dignitaries commended the performance of officers and sailors, highlighting the professionalism, tactical competence, and operational discipline demonstrated throughout the exercise. They also acknowledged the Navy’s crucial role in defending Bangladesh’s maritime boundaries and supporting national strategic interests.
The successful completion of the Annual Naval Exercise – 2025 underscores the Bangladesh Navy’s commitment to maintaining a credible and responsive maritime defence posture in the Bay of Bengal.
