Bangla-22 Tactical Data Link

Reading Time: 5 minutes Bangla-22 is the Bangladesh Navy’s indigenous tactical data link (TDL) system, developed from Tecnobit / Grupo Oesía’s Openlink family and tailored specifically for Bangladesh under the local name “Bangla-22.” The programme delivers an integrated, secure tactical communications backbone linking ships, submarines, maritime aircraft, and shore stations. It enables a common operational picture (COP), sensor fusion, and secure voice/data exchange across the service. Background and Procurement The Bangladesh Navy identified a requirement for a modern tactical data link comparable to those fielded by major naval forces. This system would interconnect air, surface, and sub-surface assets to improve maritime situational awareness. Tecnobit / Grupo Oesía proposed a custom implementation based on its Openlink product line. The solution was adapted into a fully localised system known as Bangla-22, now referenced in official procurement documentation and tender listings from the Directorate General of Defence Purchases (DGDP).
