Border Guard Bangladesh ORBAT

Reading Time: 3 minutes The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is a paramilitary force structured along the lines of a conventional army, with a well-defined chain of command and distinct operational zones. Operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the BGB is primarily responsible for protecting Bangladesh’s international borders, preventing smuggling and illegal crossings, and assisting in maintaining internal security when required. The force is headed by a Director General (DG), typically a senior officer from the Bangladesh Army, holding the rank of Major General. The Director General is supported by several Additional Directors General (ADGs) and a hierarchy of officers overseeing operational, administrative, and logistical functions across the organisation. Operationally, the BGB is divided into a number of regions, each commanded by a Region Commander (usually of Brigadier General rank).
