Bangladesh Armed Forces Procure New Infantry Anti-Armour and VSHORAD Capabilities

Reading Time: 2 minutes The Bangladesh Armed Forces have initiated a series of procurements aimed at enhancing close-range combat effectiveness and low-altitude air defence across both land and maritime domains. The acquisitions, involving modern disposable anti-armour systems, legacy rocket launcher munitions and man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS), reflect Dhaka’s continued focus on incremental and cost-effective force modernisation. The Bangladesh Army is purchasing additional ALCOTAN 100 (M2) lightweight anti-armour weapon system, including VOSEL fire control units, ALCOTAN-AT (M2) anti-tank munitions and ALCOTAN-ABK (M2) anti-bunker munitions. The ALCOTAN 100 (M2) is a 100 mm calibre, shoulder-launched, disposable system designed to provide infantry units with a flexible solution against armoured vehicles, field fortifications and hardened urban targets.
