The Halda class submarine-handling tug boats were designed by Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd and technology to build the tug boats were transferred by Marine Grade One of Malaysia to the Khulna Shipyard of the Bangladesh Navy.
The Halda class tug boats are the largest vessels of their type to be built at the Khulna Shipyard. They have a length of 32 metres and a full loaded displacement of 860 ton.
Powered by two 1,864 kW marine diesel engines the tug boats can reach a maximum speed of 12 knots. Bollard pull capacity is rated at
