The Bangladesh Navy has modified its Forces Goal 2030 expansion and modernisation blueprint to counter present and future threats according to a source in the Bangladesh Navy. The source indicated to BDMilitary.com that the Navy wants to build more naval bases for starters and add more manpower besides purchase various surface, submarine and aerial platforms to ensure an overwhelming capability can be exercised in the event of a war with any particular country.
At present the Bangladesh Navy is concentrating its financial and manpower resources to raise the nascent submarine force. China delivered the Navy’s first two refurbished Ming class diesel-electric attack submarines in December 2016. The two units would be commissioned at a grand ceremony attended by the nations VVIP’s, military officers and foreign dignitaries to mark the beginning of a new journey for the rising sea force on 12th of March this year.
