Türkiye Proposes Joint UAV Factory and Strategic Air Defence Cooperation with Bangladesh

Reading Time: 6 minutes Bangladesh and Türkiye are poised to take their bilateral defence relationship to an unprecedented level. During the recently concluded Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Dhaka — the first in four years — Ankara proposed a joint UAV manufacturing facility in Bangladesh and a major military aircraft procurement contract for the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF). At the same time, Türkiye offered the Hisar-O+ medium-range and Siper (SİPER) long-range air defence systems to the BAF, with the intention of building a multi-layered defensive shield around key national assets and critical points of infrastructure. These moves, if realised, will not only transform Bangladesh’s defence posture but also accelerate its transition towards indigenous capability under Forces Goal 2030.
