Bangladesh, Türkiye Eye Deeper Defence Ties through Strategic Industrial Joint Ventures

Reading Time: 3 minutes In a significant step towards fostering deeper defence-industrial cooperation, Bangladesh and Türkiye have agreed to explore strategic joint ventures aimed at enabling Bangladesh’s self-sufficiency in armament production. The development came during a high-level meeting in Dhaka between Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, and Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) of the Republic of Türkiye. The meeting centred on a comprehensive evaluation of ongoing and future cooperation in the defence sector. Both sides reiterated their commitment to advancing strategic projects, technology transfers, and joint development platforms as part of a long-term partnership vision. The discussions also touched on the integration of Bangladeshi industries into Türkiye’s expansive supply chain network, with a view to developing an inter-dependent, resilient and NATO-standard ecosystem.
