Bangladesh Navy Launches Indigenous Landing Craft Tank at Khulna Shipyard

Reading Time: 2 minutes As part of the Bangladesh Navy’s ongoing modernisation drive and efforts to enhance its three-dimensional maritime capability, Khulna Shipyard Limited (KSL), operated under the supervision of the Bangladesh Navy, has commenced the construction of three Landing Craft Tank (LCT) vessels using indigenous capability. In continuation of this initiative, the launching ceremony of LCT-101 was held on 14 January at Khulna Shipyard. A second LCT bearing pennant number LCT-102 was launched subsequently with a third vessel also be be launched shortly. The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, formally inaugurated the launching of LCT-101 as the chief guest. Senior military and civil officials, along with other distinguished guests, were present at the ceremony. Designed to support joint amphibious operations of the Army and Navy in coastal regions, the LCTs will play a vital role in transporting heavy equipment such as tanks, artillery and armoured personnel
