Dockyard & Engineering Works, Narayanganj launched a new class of coastal patrol craft named as “Shobuj Bangla”. The first unit of the class CGS Shobuj Bangla was launched at the Navy owned shipyard near Dhaka on last Thursday (01/12/2016) at a launching ceremony attended by Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard Rear Admiral AMMM Aurangzeb Chowdhury as its chief guest.
The Shobuj Bangla class coastal patrol craft was built with the technical assistance of China. It was designed and inspected by the China Classification Society (CCS), which is China’s analogue of Bureau Veritas (BV). The organisation performs classification, certification services and product inspection.
The Shobuj Bangla class patrol boats dimensions are 51.40 m in length, 7.0 metres in length, depth of 3.85 metres and has a draft of 1.86 m with normal load. Its displacement is speculated to be around 300 tonnes however the BCG or
