The Khulna Shipyard has launched BNS Nishan (P815) and BNT Pashur submarine handling tug boat for the Bangladesh Navy through a ceremony attended by Bangladeshi and Chinese officials today.
The two vessels are the second in each class to be launched with predecessors having been launched late last year representing a milestone achievement for the Bangladesh Navy operated shipyard.
The Durgam Class Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette (categorised as LPCs for technical reasons) is a sub-variant of the Durjoy class surface warfare guided missile Large Patrol Craft (LPC). This sub-variant is indigenously constructed at the Khulna Shipyard (KSYBN) in South Western Bangladesh with the technical cooperation of Chinese and Japanese organisations. It features additional improvements over the Durjoy class LPC’s built in China.
Equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and weapons these anti-submarine warfare corvettes are capable of detecting, tracking and destroying submarines, warships and aircraft with a whole gamut of armaments
