The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs is implementing a massive expansion program for the Bangladesh Coast Guard in phases to enable it to become a formidable agency responsible for securing Bangladesh’s coast line.
As per plan the projects will be implemented in three phases including a short-term plan (2015-2020), medium-term plan (2021-2025) and long term plan (2026-2030) as per Vision 2030 similar to the Bangladesh Armed Forces Goal 2030.
The short term plans have already started with induction of two harbour patrol boats, 10 high speed boats, 4 pontoons and Coast Guard infrastructure at Chandpur including barracks and administrative buildings for the sub-station there. Also last year the state of the art Coast Guard Base Agrajatra was also inaugurated at Patuakhali at a cost of BDT 43 crore 56 lakh.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard will also be allocated another BDT 445 crore 82 lakh
