Bangladesh–Pakistan Military Engagement Enters New Phase

Reading Time: 2 minutes Bangladesh–Pakistan military ties are taking a tangible step forward with the departure of a ten-member Bangladesh Army delegation to Islamabad on 16 August. Led by Quarter Master General Lieutenant General Faizur Rahman, the team will remain in Pakistan until 24 August under the invitation of the Defence Wing of the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka. The visit comes just days before Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman travels to Beijing from 22–25 August for official talks with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), highlighting Dhaka’s deliberate effort to maintain diversified military partnerships with key regional powers. Delegation Composition and Objectives Alongside Lt Gen Rahman, the delegation includes Brigadier General Kazi ASM Shahriar Pervez, Brigadier General Mohammad Abdul Aziz, a Colonel, two Lieutenant Colonels, and a Major. The itinerary focuses on Pakistan’s key defence establishments, including ordnance factories, air defence facilities, UAV production units, and sites where missile systems
