The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) has sought the deployment of the Bangladesh Army for four days from April 26 to ensure security during the city elections.
The EC requested the government to deploy one battalion of Army troops under each city corporation jurisdiction, which means over 700 personnel will be deployed in every city.
Sources informed BDMilitary.com that the army will be deployed as “striking force” and “reserve force” outside polling stations.
This decision to deploy comes even though law enforcement agencies assured the EC of providing sufficient numbers of personnel to ensure security during the polls.
